Squiffix Privacy Policy

Doc Squiffy provides Squiffix for Android, Android TV and Fire TV. This policy explains how information is accessed, used and shared when you use the app and its supporting transfer services. It also describes the related Squiffix website and optional Desktop Bridge. References to “we” and “our” mean Doc Squiffy.

1. Information used on your device

Squiffix accesses device and storage information to display device health, locate files, manage installed apps and help you clean storage. Depending on the feature and permissions you grant, this includes installed app names, package names, versions, APK files, file names, paths, sizes, available storage, memory and network connection status. Scanning and cleaning use this information on your device; files are sent to a service when you choose a transfer or an external file-check feature.

Deleting files or uninstalling apps is an action you choose. Review selections before confirming: deleted files may not be recoverable.

2. Permissions

• Storage and media access: used to find, select, transfer and clean files. Depending on your Android version, the app requests storage/media permissions or “All files access” for broader scans.
• Internet and network status: used for transfers, downloads, public-IP checks and online features.
• Install unknown apps: used to ask Android to install APKs you select. Android controls approval and installation.
• ADB debugging, if you choose it: used to connect to an authorised device on your local network and install selected APKs. You control debugging authorisation on that device. Desktop Bridge ADB keys remain on your computer.

You can change permissions in your device settings. Features requiring a revoked permission may stop working.

3. APK transfers and download links

When you choose a relay transfer, the selected APK or archive and information needed to deliver it (such as app/file name, size, transfer code and upload-session information) are transmitted to the transfer service. Services referenced by the app include Squiffix’s relay and firesend.download. Receiving devices use a transfer code to retrieve the file. Anyone who has a working code may be able to download its file, so share codes only with intended recipients and do not upload confidential content.

Permanent-link features store the download URL and associated app information, such as app name, version, icon URL and size, so that the link can be used again. Download hosts receive the requests needed to retrieve their files. Direct ADB transfers use a local connection to the target device; Desktop Bridge can also download your selected APK from the relay before installation.

4. IP address and VPN/privacy checks

The app reads Android’s network/VPN status and uses ipify (api.ipify.org) to obtain your public IP address. That service receives your IP address and normal connection information. The Squiffix website uses ProxyCheck (proxycheck.io) to classify a visitor’s public IP as a possible VPN, proxy or Tor connection. IP classification is an estimate, not a guarantee of privacy, encryption or security.

5. Malware checks and external services

If you use a VirusTotal check, file hashes and/or files you choose to submit may be sent to VirusTotal. Its pages receive normal browser connection information, including your IP address. Files submitted to VirusTotal are subject to its own terms and may be shared with its security partners; do not submit private or confidential files. Review VirusTotal’s privacy policy before uploading.

6. Analytics and crash reports

The Android app includes Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These services can process app interactions, app-instance or installation identifiers, device and operating-system information, performance information and crash diagnostics, including stack traces. We use this information to understand usage and diagnose reliability problems. Firebase processes data under its service settings and policies; this policy does not claim that the app collects no data.

7. Website, affiliate links and service providers

Squiffix links to third-party websites, app stores and VPN offers, including IPVanish. Affiliate links contain a referral identifier and may earn Doc Squiffy a commission. Clicking them opens the third party’s service, which may use cookies or other tracking under its own privacy policy. Squiffix does not provide the VPN service or process purchases made on those websites.

Hosting, storage and database providers, including Replit and its infrastructure providers, process uploaded files, transfer metadata and technical request information to operate the service. Technical logs may include IP addresses, request details, file/app names, URLs, transfer codes and errors. They are used for operation, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Support emails include the information you choose to send us. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to protect users or the service.

8. Retention and deletion

Temporary Squiffix relay transfer codes are designed to expire after approximately 15 minutes. Expired uploads and their associated stored objects are scheduled for cleanup; cleanup can be delayed by failed or interrupted processing. This is not a promise of instant deletion from all infrastructure, logs or backups. Separate transfer hosts and external services follow their own retention practices.

Permanent download-link records persist until removed. Technical logs, support correspondence and provider-managed analytics or crash reports may remain after a transfer expires or the app is uninstalled. Their retention depends on operational needs, provider settings and applicable legal obligations. Locally stored settings and app-private data can be removed through Android’s clear-data controls or uninstalling; files saved outside the app’s private storage may need to be deleted separately.

To request access, correction or deletion of information associated with your use of Squiffix, contact [email protected]. Include enough information to locate the relevant transfer or record, but do not send passwords or confidential files. We may ask for proportionate verification and explain if a record cannot be identified or must be retained. Requests concerning data held independently by another provider may need to be made to that provider.

9. Security and international processing

We use access controls and encrypted connections where supported to help protect information. Local debugging connections and some third-party downloads may not provide the same protection as HTTPS. Use trusted networks and only authorise devices you control. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

Service providers may process information outside your country, where data-protection rules may differ. Where required, applicable safeguards and legal requirements govern such processing.

10. Your choices and children’s privacy

You can decline optional transfers, external scans and affiliate links, revoke permissions, and stop using the app. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, request portability, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.

Squiffix is a general-purpose device utility, not a service directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and address it.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Squiffix or its services change. The current published policy is available at squiffix.com/privacy-policy.html. The date at the top identifies this version.
